Transition to Prep
A warm and exciting transition into our Primary School and community is essential. This sets every child up for success in the playground and a hunger to learn in the classroom.

Questions, Feedback and Everything Else
As always, please feel free to contact the office on (03) 97292 868 or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
We are so excited to begin our learning journey with you all.
After visiting the school with either our Principal Bret Mottrom or Assistant Principal Dan Zielinski, you will be invited to apply for a place. Ideally, all applications will be received by the end of June in the year prior to your child’s enrolment.
In August, the school will contact you to advise whether your child has been successful in gaining a place at Bayswater South Primary School. Upon receipt of an offer, you simply need to contact the school office to confirm acceptance of your offer – and transition will commence.
Term 4 Transition program
Our Prep Transition Program commences in Term 4 of each year.
For one hour, on specified dates, parents/carers and their enrolled child, attend school for activities and a relaxed ‘Meet and Greet’. This provides an ideal opportunity for our new Foundation students to learn more about our unique school, make friendships (great for playdates over the summer holidays) and prepare for their first day of school in 2024.
Over a hot drink and biscuit, parents can speak to our Principal and Prep teachers, and connect with other parents, setting themselves and their family up for a smooth transition into our community.
An Information Evening is held for parents to ask any final questions about their child’s transition and requirements (i.e. uniforms, medication and allergy information, Out of Hours School Care etc.). Invitations to this event will be sent to all enrolled families for 2024.
The Victorian Department of Education has a great guide to Starting Primary School. It includes information on how to ensure your child has a smooth transition (from conversations to start having in their fourth year of kinder to their first day) and importantly, how to take care of yourself during what can be a sensitive time for parents.
